The Power of Intention: A Guiding Light


At Mogami, we believe that setting intentions is at the heart of meaningful living. Unlike resolutions, which often focus on specific outcomes, intentions centre on who you want to become and how you want to show up in the world. They serve as a compass, aligning your daily actions with your values and aspirations.


This concept is beautifully expressed through Kakizome (書き初め), or “first writing,” an annual Japanese calligraphy tradition where individuals inscribe a word or phrase to embody their hopes for the year ahead. It’s not about achieving perfection—it’s about creating a heartfelt anchor for the journey to come.


The 2025 Mogami Wellness Calendar takes this tradition to new heights with calligraphy created exclusively for Mogami by Grand Master Shihan Chisai 千彩, a master Japanese calligraphy master. Each kanji for the calendar’s monthly themes has been thoughtfully written to reflect its deeper essence and meaning, ensuring that this ancient art continues to inspire and guide us today.


Grand Master Shihan Chisai also oversees Mogami’s calligraphy mindfulness offerings, ensuring that they remain faithful to the principles of this 2,000-year-old art form while making it accessible and engaging for modern audiences.

Introducing the 2025 Mogami Wellness Calendar

 This year’s calendar builds on the success of 2024, offering even more depth, reflection, and opportunities to connect. Each month introduces a unique theme inspired by Japanese wellness principles, helping you cultivate mindfulness, resilience, and joy.


Here is a selection of the themes awaiting you in 2025:

  • January (志 – Intention): Begin the year by defining what truly matters to you.

  • March (響 – Embodiment): Explore the healing power of being fully present in your body.

  • July (侘び寂び – Wabi-Sabi): Embrace imperfection and discover the beauty in the incomplete.

  • November (元気 – Nourishment): Focus on energy-giving habits that sustain balance and vitality.


Each of the twelve months has been carefully curated, with themes designed to help you find moments of clarity and growth in your daily life. From enhanced reflection prompts to creative calligraphy practices, the calendar offers an inspiring journey through the year.


How to Use the 2025 Calendar


To make the most of your journey, the calendar encourages a mindful routine each month:


At the beginning of each month:

  • Reflect and Connect: Take time to reflect on the month’s theme and explore its personal significance. How does it resonate with your current journey?

  • Set Intentions: Define one or two meaningful action items to integrate this theme into your daily life.

  • Calligraphy Practice: Engage with the monthly kanji by practising calligraphy weekly. Use a calligraphy brush, brush pen, or even a regular pen—whichever feels most comfortable for you. Each stroke deepens your connection to the theme and fosters mindfulness.


At the end of each month:

  • Review Your Progress: Reflect on whether you successfully completed your action items and how they influenced your mindset and well-being.

  • Evaluate Your Energy Flow: Consider how your calligraphy practice shaped your energy and mindset. Did it bring a sense of calm, and clarity, or perhaps reveal challenges to work through?

  • Embrace and Release: Identify what you wish to carry forward into the next month and what you are ready to let go of. This is a moment of closure and renewal.

  • Share with the Community: Share your calligraphy and reflections with the Mogami Wellness community by tagging @mogami_wellness. By connecting with others, you create a ripple effect of shared growth and inspiration.
